I know, I know. I already posted once about New Years Resolutions. Rest assured that you aren't losing your mind. It's already January 6th and by the looks of the number of people in my local gym, people aren't sticking to their resolutions. Have you stuck to yours?
If you haven't, there may be a good reason why. Psychologists have shown that making statements is less effective in establishing resolutions and effecting change than asking questions. Asking questions changes the game so much that the psychological response that it triggers can have an affect on the individual even up to 6 months later. Instead of saying, "I'm going to lose weight this year" try asking yourself, "Will I lose weight this year?" Ask yourself questions but don't question the process.
When it comes to certain goals such as weight loss, researchers find that it's best not to put a time limit on reaching your goal. What happens if you get to the "finish line" but you realize that you've still got one more lap to run? Most people just give up.
Have you still kept your New Years Resolution? If not, there's still hope!
